A belated Blog Post – We have been hacked !!!

We have been hacked!!
Just when we thought we were in retirement mode, some hackers attacked our Facebook advertising agents!!
We were advised by them, and we immediately cancelled our credit cards (which was very inconvenient at Christmas).  But then our Gmail and also our Facebook pages were disabled!
WOW!!!
We have got Gmail back, but we do not yet  have any access to our Facebook page, so we can’t update it, or post anything to the page. It is so frustrating.  It could be another couple of weeks before we can get going again.
We definitely are still wanting to keep in touch!  We have not forgotten our wonderful customers!!  We promise!!
Gel Pad and Cooler bag returns
We are still happy to get these back – so long as there are at least 6 assorted gel pads or cooler bags.  Please email me for a return label, if you would like to. If we missed replying during our hack, please resend your email (sorry).
Christmas and New Year
We had our son and family over from Germany in mid December, which was cool.  They are now back in Germany (in very snowy conditions – which seems hard to believe).
We then spent actual Christmas with our son and his family in Wellington.  We drove down, but spent the night in Taupo, so it was pretty relaxed.
On the farm
Well, the weather has certainly been different! The farm is still green (but growing lots of summer weeds).  It has never been this green at this time of year, in the over 20 years we have lived at Lake Farm.
We did send some animals off in December to be processed (which would have gone into our pies).  The prices, currently, are very high, which we are happy about.  But it is still a job we hate doing.  We do know that the animals have had a wonderful stress free life here, though,  and that gives us immense satisfaction.
With everything that was going on with finishing the pie business, we decided this year to not do any AI breeding (even though we have a tankful of high genetic value semen).  We just used our two bulls, Tristan and Mt Vernon.  They were happy about that. Next season will be different.
Having sold some land to our neighbour, we do have to reduce our herd a little.  This will be done over the next few months.  The only animals we will cull will be those with poor docility.  Docility now is perhaps one of our most important traits.  We only want animals who enjoy being here.
Spotlight on:
Today we would like to spotlight two young weaner bulls, who will shortly be on their way to Taihape, to live.  One is called WIREMU and one is WILSON.
These guys really are super.  Their genetic level is through the roof, and they are really solid little guys.  We are very proud to have bred them!
This will be our last newsletter, and is also BLOG POST #2.   Now that we are back online we will post every week to our blog.
